Meteorologist W H Dines, who lived and worked in Benson, is being honoured with an Oxfordshire Blue Plaque. The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday 9 June, with an exhibition and activities planned (for adults and children) from 2pm – 4.30pm at Benson Parish Hall.  

All children are invited to enter two competitions being run by the organisers:

Competition One

Observe the weather for a week and record your observations in whichever format you like, as an A4 or A3 poster.

Competition Two

Design or make an instrument for measuring some aspect of the weather (rainfall, wind, sun, snow, and so on.)  This could be a drawing illustrating the instrument or a mock up/model of the instrument.

Entries can be dropped off at the main school office, or to Benson Library (opening times; 2pm- 6pm on Monday and 9am - 12:30pm and 2pm – 5pm on Tuesday). All entries must include name, age and a contact telephone number.

Competition closes at 12 noon on Tuesday 5 June.
