Fantastic Plastic Challenge

There are lots of metaphors about things which look quiet or calm on the surface but behind or underneath them there is something busy or substantial – it might be icebergs with most of their structure deep under the ocean or ducks furiously paddling feet as they glide across the water but our school does feel a little like that at the moment. We seem quiet in the building but when you delve into the web of remote learning there is a huge amount going on and that it to the tremendous credit of our students and staff in these uncertain times. Well done to all for their work this week.

A group of students I have been in touch with this week is our Year 13 Student Leaders and they have set the Fantastic Plastic Challenge. The challenge is to do something creative – it could be practical or artistic or both – with a plastic item or items at home which you were about to recycle and to send a photo of it to them. It is all explained on Satchel in my Headteacher’s Video Message and the Student Leaders PowerPoint. The entries will be judged and there will be prizes for individuals and for the House with the most entries. I very much look forward to seeing the entries.

Finally, a reminder that Wednesday 27th January is an INSET Day. We will not be setting work or offering remote learning on that day as staff will be reviewing and evaluating our provision and planning accordingly.
