It can sometimes be said that June and July are the “quiet” times in school – the reality is in fact the opposite, they are busy, exciting and hopefully memorable months.

Firstly, we finish the public examinations and we continue to admire the dedication and hard work of our Year 11 and 13 students in these busy exam weeks. They are all looking forward to finishing and having a well-deserved break in a couple of weeks’ time; for now, we support, encourage and guide them to fulfil their potential. They are a credit to themselves and their families and we are very proud of them.

In the meantime, things are already getting busy for the rest of the school – today we have the Year 9 Girls’ football final and the Year 10 History residential visit to Cannock departing - and then they get busier. In the weeks to come we have amongst other things Founder’s Day and Celebration Days; Year 9 activity centre residential visits, Year 8 visits to Europe and the Year 12 residential at Nottingham University; we appoint Prefects from Year 10 and embed our Student Leaders from Year 12; we look forward to a brilliant Enrichment Week which will include a fantastic Sports Day; and we welcome next year’s Year 7 students and induct next year’s Year 12 year group. We will also be able to access the new teaching block before the end of term which is tremendously exciting.

In short, it’s a really exciting six weeks ahead, full of the great activities and experiences which make Wallingford School such a great community to be a part of – not really that “quiet” at all.
