As you may be aware, many teachers who are members of the National Education Union will be taking strike action on Wednesday 1st February and therefore will not be in school. As a consequence, we have undertaken a risk assessment of our site, considered the nature of the provision which we are able to offer on the day and recognised that we are unable to be fully open to all students.

We have made the decision that the school will be partially closed to students on the day with only students in Years 7, 11, 12 and 13 on site. For these students the day will consist of their normal timetable with the Senior Leadership Team leading on arrangements for them if their teacher is absent. Students in Years 8, 9 and 10 will not be in school on the day and will have work provided for them through Satchel; this work will not follow the normal timetable and will be generic in its nature and style.

We are able to offer provision on the day in school for the children of key workers and students deemed as vulnerable in Years 8, 9 and 10. Again, this will not be a “normal” timetable and will consist of working in a supervised room completing the work which is set for the other students in the year group. If you require your child to attend this provision then please email office.4140@wallingfordschool.com by 9am on Tuesday 31st January with brief details as to why your child requires this provision.

Buses will run as normal on the day and the school canteen will also be open as normal. Please also note that the Maths Challenge which some students in Years 9, 10 and 11 are participating in will now run on Thursday 2nd February.

Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding with this matter.
