There has been a raft of House activities taking place in school this week and, as ever, the spirit of participation and competition has been simply excellent.

Science has been a focus with a range of activities in lessons and at lunchtimes. These have ranged from innovative work with equipment in mini-demonstrations at the start of lessons providing a feel of real world scientific research to the adrenalin-fuelled challenge of a scavenger hunt. It has all been great fun with House points to be won and overall House point totals at stake.

On Tuesday we had International Pi Day. It’s both about Maths and pies and very well done to the entrants in the baking competition – a great effort all round.

Year 10 House form football has run at lunchtimes throughout the week and continues to be a great addition to the House calendar, notably with some epic penalty shootouts; Year 11 to follow next week. Today we have the semi-finals of the House University Challenge in which the competition will be fierce.

There is much more to come with House activities before the end of term. The football and netball House matches are in the last week of term and there will be the House Easter Egg Hunt. This culminates in House assemblies in the last week of term when the current overall standings will be revealed.

All of this is about the life of the school, the things students thrive on and will remember. It is wonderful to see and great to be a part of.
