Firstly, a Happy New Year to everyone! The school returned on Monday with a few bleary eyes emerging through the cold and the dark of a January morning – but it was great to be back and to see everyone again.

Assemblies this week have been about resolutions – generally of the new year variety – and about how having targets and wanting to improve are admirable qualities whether at the start of a calendar year, academic year or at any time. This always feels like a good message in school as we return following the “busyness” of the couple of weeks before Christmas and as we again embrace the rhythm and routine of school life again.

As the term powers up, an initial focus is very much on our school production of the Addams Family in three weeks’ time. We are all very excited about the show and rehearsals look really promising. What has struck me so far is the sheer number of students involved from Years 7 to 13 and this bodes well both for this production and for the future. Information about tickets for the show will be available very soon – it is going to be great!

With House competitions about to kick in again, the life of the school rolls on at the start of a new year.
