It has been coming for a while and this week has seen one of the highlights of the school year – our whole school production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. I have been observing rehearsals from a distance for several months and it has been wonderful to see the show come together so spectacularly. It is great and a tribute to the talent of all the young people who play a role in it.

What I always love about our productions is that they include students from Years 7 to 13 working together purposefully over a long period of time and that there is something for everyone – be it onstage, in the band, working the lights, in costumes or make-up, there is something for you if you want to be part of the production. It was a particular pleasure to welcome the Year 6 children from our local primary schools to see the show on Monday afternoon and I said to them that I look forward to seeing a great many of them in next year’s show as many of our current Year 7s were sat in their seats this time last year and are now shining on stage at Wallingford School.

Wednesday saw the heats of one of the other annual highlights of the school calendar – our annual Ninja Warrior competition. As with Joseph, what is great about this event is the way students from across the school come together to support and encourage each other; the course is really challenging, everyone gives it their best shot and it is a lot of fun. Well done to those who have made today’s final but also well done to everyone who has participated and also supported – they were all brilliant.

I also have to say well done to our Year 12 Livery Academy Awards team who took part in the final at the Mansion House in London on Tuesday evening. They didn’t win this time but acquitted themselves admirably and have taken so much from the experience over the past few months. I would like to especially thank the Merchant Taylors’ Company for this opportunity and for facilitating so much support for the team which has been greatly appreciated.

Finally, an early warning that Friday 14th February will be a non-uniform day in school with donations requested through ParentPay to support local organization FarmAbility whose work is close to our hearts as a school. More information to follow on donations through our social media channels next week.
