It's important to weigh up the learning and development time for creating resources versus the outcome. There's little point in slaving away learning a piece of technology for something you're only ever going to use once.
When developing something, you should always consider re-use. That's often the big advantage ICT resources have over paper-based; they can be used repeatedly without needing replacement. (Okay, that is until your computer is upgraded and no longer runs the software!)
Ask yourself a few questions before beginning:
- Will others in your department find it useful? Or even those in other schools? (A really good idea is worth sharing!)
- Will it be easy to adapt for other groups, other topics, other difficulty levels?
- Has someone already created something similar that you can adapt?
