Wallingford School was founded by Walter Bigg in 1659 and is one of nine in the Merchant Taylor's family of schools. The livery company is one of the Great Twelve in the City of London and is very keen to strengthen the links between its schools. The Company's current activities are mainly charitable although some have retained a trade or industry role. Since the 16th and 17th Century, The Merchant Taylors' Company has taken many key educational initiatives and education still remains of major interest to them.
