It is probably a little early for the first shoots of spring to be in evidence but the increasing addition of the brickwork on the new teaching block at the front of the school has felt like a similar moment of change and potential. The purple cladding is gradually being encased in the outer superstructure – that is the word used – and we get closer every day to a great new facility for our school. This is really exciting and we are going to share images from the build through social media as we get closer to completion in the late spring/early summer.

Another exciting development is the Biodiversity Area next to the Walter Bigg Car park in St George’s Road. This stalled a little at the end of last year but we are now working with contractors to plan the design to incorporate amongst other things an outdoor classroom. We are very fortunate to have the support of the Walter Bigg Foundation with this project and it will be for the benefit of both our students and the wider local community in time. Much more to follow on this.

Finally, a huge well done to our Year 11 students who received the results from their mock examinations last Thursday. They have done really well and there is a tremendous amount going on to support them in the weeks and months to come. They have also been wonderfully articulate and thoughtful in their Sixth Form interviews during this week – they are a great year group and a real pleasure to be around.
