The snow and the ice came to school this week and so did Christmas and The Wizard of Oz.

It was brilliant to be able to welcome so many children from our local primary and junior schools on Monday afternoon for a performance of our school production of The Wizard of Oz. They were captivated by the production and it was a pleasure to have them with us. The production has then kicked on with three performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings - I won’t give too much away but it is fantastic and a tribute to the talent and commitment of cast, crew and the staff who have supported and guided them. Very well done to all.

Christmas is coming and Wednesday saw the return of our Christmas lunch which was a really good occasion with live music, crackers (and hats) and good food. The numbers of students who took up the opportunity to have lunch was unprecedented and they seemed to really enjoy it. Today is a Christmas-themed non-uniform day with donations supporting the charity Crisis, one of three charities we're supporting this year (along with Project Trust and the Wallingford Emergency Food Bank). In addition, we have a range of Christmas House activities which have been highlighted in House assemblies during this week including the well-established classroom door decorating competition and the new Christmas tree decorating competition with the trees showcased on the bridge of the new teaching block and looking very striking. Thank you also to everyone who has made donations to support local charity Sleigh2Give which have been greatly appreciated.

Next week is a short one culminating in the return of our whole school assembly when the overall House standings at this point in the year will be announced. Please do also keep an eye out for our end of term School Newsletter which always captures the life of the school very well indeed.
