It was the Christmas Concert on Tuesday evening and it was a wonderful event. There were string and brass groups, solos and duets, pianists and percussionists – the latter particularly new and exciting! - the legendary Bigg Band, the infectiously enthusiastic Key Stage 3 Choir and a whole lot more. As a school we are fortunate to have so much talent in our student body but they also apply it and work hard; we are also fortunate to have staff who want to harness these attributes and prepare, rehearse and stage such great events. Thank you to everyone involved and also to all of the families and friends of the school who packed the Hall and enjoyed every minute of it.

If the concert kickstarted Christmas in school then it rolls on next week with year group trips to bowling and the pantomime in Oxford, House matches, the Sixth Form Christmas Ball, the House Christmas doors competition, the Christmas-themed non-uniform day on Friday and we finish it all with the whole school assembly on Friday lunchtime. It’s going to be a good week – and we continue to look for small plastic ducks...

Amidst all of this excitement, I also have to mention our Year 11 students who have been undertaking their mock exams this week which run into next week. Their collective approach has been absolutely first-class and this promises much for next summer. Very well done to them all.
