The sun has shone this week and it has felt a little quieter in school without our Year 10s who have been on their Work Experience placements. It has been great to hear about how they have been getting on – with some lovely photos on our social media channels – and very well done to them all for the maturity of their approach as they get involved in the “real world” as they have impressed and worked hard in equal measure.
On Wednesday I went on the STARS visit to Silverstone and it was a fascinating day. We were particularly lucky to see three of the F1 teams actually testing cars on the track and the day also provided great insights into engineering, history and top level sport. Thanks as always must go the Walter Bigg Foundation for its ongoing support for the STARS programme and rewards within the school.
It was a pleasure to attend the Wallingford School Association (WSA) meeting on Thursday evening and their support is also invaluable and hugely appreciated by us all. They have given up a huge amount of time in recent months providing refreshments at productions, concerts and shows and we are very lucky to have them. We discussed several areas where the WSA is intending to support the school in the coming months and they will add real value to our students’ experience – much more to follow on this.
Today sees the Year 12 Hustings for next year’s Student Leadership Team as well as Year 11 Celebration Day followed by their Prom this evening; with Year 13 Celebration Day to follow next Friday, there is a lot going on!
