Mike Mullen jumps over teaching staffLast September, we launched the Olympic-inspired Be the Best you can Be programme at Wallingford School for the fourth year running. This year's cohort, Year 9 students have been following the programme throughout the academic year, being set a series of challenges including climbing, surfing and caving, all encouraging the students to push themselves beyond their normal comfort zones, and see just what it might be possible for them to achieve.

Wallingford School's Head of Year 9, Madie Paterson said; "We were thrilled to launch the programme this year with Former BMX halfpipe World Champion Mike Mullen. The launch event offered the students chance to hear Mike Mullen share his experiences and journey to success and inspire them to make the most of all the challenges and opportunities they are part of this year, during the programme."

21st Century Olympic Legacy was founded by Dr David Hemery CBE, Olympic Gold Medallist and former World Record Holder (400m Hurdles Mexico 1968). "Everyone has a spark of greatness within them and through a combination of dreams and practical application they can achieve their potential, as long as they positively set their mind to it, believe in themselves and are prepared to work hard."

Look out for stories of what our Year 9's have been doing in the BTBYCB programme so far, coming soon.
