A reminder about the WSA EGM being held on Wednesday 10th February. Information about the WSA follows.
Calling all parents at Wallingford School – we need your generous help and support.
We know that everyone has hectic lives. However, we would really like parents to consider joining the Wallingford School Association (WSA). We are purely a fundraising team for Wallingford School, and we raise money by organising an annual Quiz night, and selling food and drink school productions such as the Christmas show and Spring Concert. There is very minimal involvement required throughout the year, unlike when your children were at primary school!
We have approximately 3 main functions per year and a meeting approx. 2 – 3 times per year, as most of the co-ordination can be done via email. It is a good way to meet other parents and make new friends and we do have fun, so please come along and meet us - we are an extremely friendly bunch!
We are holding a meeting at school on Wednesday 10th February, 7.30pm in the 6th Form Common Room, where you can come along and find out more about us. We URGENTLY need you to volunteer as we need to replace a number of parents whose children are due to leave this year. Otherwise, purely due to lack of numbers, we will be no longer able to continue. Unfortunately, even as a large school, we probably only currently have 1 or 2 parents per school year group join the WSA, which is extremely low for the amount of children who attend.
If the WSA has to fold due to lack of numbers, this will unfortunately mean that there will be no more refreshments provided at any future functions parents attend, and no additional funds raised to purchase much needed equipment for our children that the school simply cannot afford to purchase otherwise. For example, all of the new display boards purchased last term were due to funds raised by WSA.
Mr Willis also attends the WSA meetings, where he kindly gives us a Headteacher update. This is an excellent way of being kept updated about school events and news that affect our children, that you don't usually hear about via the school website or VLE.
We have a fundraising target this year of £10,000 as the school requires a new mini bus. This will be vital to everyday school life as, without a mini bus, our children will be unable to get to outside fixtures and events, which will mean that they will either miss out or parents will have to help get the children to the events themselves.
So please help your children reach their full potential by helping to raise the additional funds the school requires, as without your support we will no longer be able to continue.
If you are unable to make the meeting on Wednesday but would like to join, please let us know by contacting wallingfordschoolassoc@gmail.com.
