Climbing

Today we went climbing and abseiling. It was really sunny and perfect conditions so the rocks weren’t wet. Although we have done climbing in PE lessons at school, this time we were climbing up an actual cliff face. I found it hard because there wasn’t much grip and I kept slipping, but I got to the top. I felt nervous at first because I wasn’t used to there not being any easy grip and foot holds. At the end I found it easy because I learnt where the ledges and footholds were after I climbed a few times. We all supported each other by belaying and telling each other where foot holds and hand grips were.

Caving

Today we went caving. It was very wet and quite dark. Luckily, we had head torches to guide us through. Our first of many challenges was the letterbox, which was a thin gap that you had to slide through. Although it was quite intimidating we all got through well. Another challenge was the washing machine which was when you had to sit down and the water would push you through a tunnel like a water-slide. It was cold and wet but you had a sense of achievement at the end.  Overall, it was a great experience!

Surfing

Today we went surfing at a beautiful beach near Swansea. We had the choice to either body-board or surf. This challenged us because we had to make sure that our surroundings were safe. I really enjoyed this because the beach was stunning and after many attempts I was able to stand up! The best bit was when my partner and I were able to surf together on the board.
