Today sees the launch of our annual parent and carer survey and we are keen to hear the views of our families on all aspects of school life. The questions are based on those used by inspection teams and as such are deliberately quite general and not leading in any way, and responses are used to form an overall picture of the school from a parent and carer’s perspective. There is an open text box and please do use it to add any further comments if you feel it is appropriate; we welcome thoughts about our provision both in the classroom and beyond. All of this information will feed into our self-evaluation as a school and our planning for the future and the time taken to complete the survey is greatly appreciated.

Another busy week in school has seen lots of fixtures and sports practices, our Year 13 students starting their mock examinations, our Year 11s attending a performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Globe Theatre, a Stars trip to Silverstone and a visit from BMX world champion Mike Mullen which included an assembly for Year 7; it has also been brilliant to see the photos from last week’s German Exchange.

It has been a pleasure over the week to welcome students from other schools who have applied to join our Sixth Form for 2024-25, attending the school for their interviews – it’s a record number of well over 100 and they have created a great impression. A number of us have also really enjoyed leading the Key Stage 4 options discussion with groups of Year 9 students – their aspirations, interests and enthusiasm are part of what make it great to come into school every day and it has been time well spent.

Lots going on in the weeks to come with the very popular Ninja Warrior competition, House Science Week, Pi Day and a great deal more coming up.
